EAST PALESTINE — It’s been more than 125 years since anyone was buried in Pioneer Boatman Memorial Cemetery, but a group of caring residents is trying to make sure the buried still have someone to decorate their graves.

The Boatman Cemetery Preservation Association, founded by Kathryn Bauknecht, David Elwoner and Julia Clark after a rash of vandalism damaged the cemetery, has been doing its part to keep the cemetery beautiful since 1994.
