Trojans march past Leetonia
SEBRING — Leetonia softball team’s record setting season came to an end Friday when it was defeated by Sebring 10-0 in the Divison IV sectional final.
“We’ve came a long way this year and this program has improved dramatically in the three years I’ve been here,” Leetonia coach Rick Mulinix said. “The school’s previous record for wins in a season was eight and we finished with 18 this year. I’d say that’s quite an improvement.”
The Bears finish their season at 18-9 while Sebring improves their mark to 16-11. The Trojans advance to meet the winner of Lordstown and Warren JFK Thursday at Lakeview High School.
“Leetonia’s an excellent ball team and I feel that we are too,” Trojan coach Sam Mathias said. “We played some great defense today and that’s been our main objective all year long. We’ve been preaching hard work and the kids bought into it.”
