STEUBENVILLE — Bragging rights belong to the OVAC. Tuesday night at Steubenville High School, senior wrestlers from the OVAC and from the Mid-Western Athletic Conference MAC met in the annual “Clash of Champions” all-star match. In the end, wrestlers from the OVAC were victorious in eight of the 14 weight classes, as the OVAC defeated the MAC, 31-26. “I think we did really well,” Parkersburg South and OVAC All-Star head coach Paul Jackson said. “They had some quality kids that just finished up wrestling in the state tournament this weekend, and they were matched up with some of our good kids and it turned to be some really good matches. “The match at 152 was against two really good wrestlers. I think they were both state runner-ups from Ohio and Pennsylvania. You aren’t going to get much higher quality than that, if any.” The MAC was victorious in the opening match of the night, but the OVAC recorded wins in the next seven matches to build a 25-4 advantage.
