Porters observe golden year

COLUMBIANA - Mr. and Mrs. Larry Porter, Village Court, celebrated their 50th anniversary on Dec. 19 with a family dinner, hosted by their daughters, at the Boardman Holiday Inn.

The former Maralyn Bell, daughter of Edgar and Mildred Bell, married Larry Porter, son of Leonard and Kathryn Porter, on Dec. 23, 1960 at Grace Church, Columbiana. The Rev. Harold Thiedt officiated the ceremony.

Mr. Porter retired in 1996 as a crane operator for Diamond Steel, Boardman, after 35 years. He belonged to Operating Engineers Local 66 and is currently a member of the Local 66 Operator's Retiree Club. He is also a member of Argus Lodge 545, Canfield. He served in the Marine Corps Reserves from 1957-63.

Mrs. Porter retired as a teacher from Crestview Elementary School in 1996 after 30 years of service. She is a member of the Retired Teachers of Columbiana County, the Ohio Education Association, the National Education Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma.

They are both members of the East Fairfield Methodist Church.

The couple has two daughters: Brenda Porter, Austintown; and Lori (Joe) Blinsky, Boardman. They also have two grandchildren.
