LISBON - Mr. and Mrs. James R. Bowles, state Route 30, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 21 with a party hosted by their children at St. George Reception Hall, Lisbon.
The former Ina Mae Duke, daughter of Raymond and Agnes Duke, became the bride of James Bowles, son of Robert and Mary Bowles on May 21, 1961 at the Centenary United Methodist Church, East Palestine. The Rev. Tom Hammerton officiated the ceremony.
Mr. Bowles was employed as a welder at E.W. Bliss Co., Salem for 22 years and retired from driving bus for Robert Bycroft School after 20 years. He is a member of the Lisbon Masons.

Mrs. Bowles worked as the Columbiana County Fair secretary for 13 years and as the Center Township clerk for 16 years. She has also been a self-employed accountant for over 50 years and continues to do quarterly and income tax returns. She is a member of the Lisbon Order of the Eastern Star.
They are members of the Lisbon Grange 1568 and the Centenary United Methodist Church. They also continue to raise beef cattle and run their 57 acre farm.
The couple have three children, Russell Bowles, Jami Bates, both of Lisbon; and Gayle (Tom) Blangero, Poland; and nine grandchildren.
