Kales celebrate 65th year

EAST PALESTINE - Mr. and Mrs. W. James Kale, Howell Avenue, celebrated their 65th anniversary June 25 with a luncheon at the Dutch House Inn, attended by 24 family members. The luncheon was hosted by their children.

The former Lois Knepp, daughter of Joseph and Florence Knepp, became the bride of W. James Kale, son of Byron and Gladys Kale, East Palestine; on June 24, 1946 at the Enon Valley United Presbyterian Church with Rev. Engle officiating.

Mr. Kale retired from Operating Engineers Local 66 in 1990 and also worked for IMS and the Ralph Veon Company. He served in the Marines from 1943-1945, serving in the Pacific Islands, including Iwo Jima. He also received a Purple Heart.

Mrs. Kale retired after 25 years from K-Mart in 1992.

They attended Enon Valley Bible Presbyterian Church, are former members of East Palestine Country Club and life members of the East Palestine VFW.

The couple have three children, James Kale, Warren; Joyce (Robert) McKinney, Columbiana; and Christine Baird, Woodlands, Texas. They also have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
