Virdens celebrate golden anniversary

NORWOOD, N.C. -George and Betty Virden, formerly of Glenmoor, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 11 with a family dinner, hosted by their daughter Patti (Dale) Turkaly. They also received congratulatory e-mails and phone calls from friends and family.

Mr. Virden retired from General Motors, Lordstown in 1994 and retired from the City of Albemarle, N.C. in 2005.

Mrs. Virden worked for the State of North Carolina Department of Corrections until her retirement in 2003.

The couple moved to North Carolina in 1996.

They have four children, Terry Virden of Nevada, George (Lisa) Virden Jr., California, Ronald Virden, Glenmoor; and Patti (Dale) Turkaly, Norwood, N.C. They also have four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
