SUMMITVILLE - Alice Mae (Bennington) Dowdell, 79, formerly of Summitville, died Monday at the Carroll Healthcare Center.
She was born Aug. 10, 1932 in Wellsburg, W.Va., to the late Minnie May Dowden and Floyd Larcaza Bennington.
Alice lived in Summitville over 50 years and was a member of the Bethesda Presbyterian Church.
She was married Jan. 21, 1956 to Paul B. Dowdell. He died Dec. 6, 1992.
Alice is survived by a son, Paul B. (wife Linda) Dowdell II of Carrollton; a daughter, Janine (husband Bob) Griffith of Summitville; a grandson, Corey J. Griffith, and two granddaughters, Carissa Ann and Casey M. Griffith, all of Summitville; a step-grandson, Jason (wife Amanda) Beadnell of Carrollton; a step-granddaughter, Jennifer (husband Grant) Board of Richmond, Ohio; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (wife Donna) Easterday of Glenmoor, and Neal in Michigan.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rusty, a sister and a step-grandson.
Private funeral and calling hours will be Thursday at the Maple-Cotton Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Allmon officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Summitville.
