EAST LIVERPOOL - Mary B. Emmerling, 94, formerly of Blackmore Street, East Liverpool died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Kansas City, Mo. on Dec. 8, 1917 and was a daughter of the late Robert D. and Mary Ann (Bowman) Smith.
Living her entire life in this area, she worked as a travel agent for AAA in East Liverpool for over 16 years. Mrs. Emmerling was a 1936 graduate of East Liverpool High School, attended Ohio Valley Business College and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. She was a life member of Eastern Star, a life member of DAV Auxiliary, a 50 year member of Octette Card Club, a life member of AAA, a member of Hope Group at her church and a member of Colloquium Study Club.
Her husband, G. Alan Emmerling, whom she married on June 8, 1946, died on Dec. 14, 1991.
Surviving her are her children: Robert A. Emmerling and his wife Becky of Myrtle Beach, S.C., David G. Emmerling and his wife Paula of Chester, W.Va., Frederick C. Emmerling and his wife Melissa of East Liverpool, Ohio and Marianne A. Wolf and her husband Ronald of East Liverpool, Ohio; 10 grandchildren: Deborah S. Eberhardt of Columbus, Ohio, Ronald M. Wolf and his wife Nicole of East Liverpool, Ohio, Scott Emmerling of East Liverpool, Ohio, Chad Emmerling of East Liverpool, Ohio, Tara Emmerling of East Liverpool, Ohio, Robin Smith and her husband Ben of Columbus, Ohio, Nancy Thompson and her husband Kevin of New Albany, Ohio, Vicki Allen and her husband Mark of Charleston, S.C., Bo Emmerling of East Liverpool, Ohio and Peggy Cashdollar and her husband Tim of Chester, W.Va.; six great grandchildren: Gracianne F. Eberhardt, Trenton L. Wolf, Jordan T. Wolf, Kane David Cashdollar, Kylie Allen and Hayley Allen; as well as sister-in-laws: Vera Smith of Glenwood, Iowa and Doris Thornley of Altamonte Springs, Fla.
Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one brother: Frederick G. Smith and one sister: Roberta C. Smith.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Cramer of the church officiating.
Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 from 4-8 p.m.
Mrs. Emmerling requested memorial contributions be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 110 Main Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
Following the committal service at the cemetery, family and friends will gather for food and fellowship at Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Home and Hospitality Center at 145 W 5th Street in downtown East Liverpool.
