There is much to be thankful for in Columbiana County. Thanks to the Marcellus and Unity Shale gas boom, our local economy appears to be finally improving.
When counting our local blessings we must not forget to include the generous folks who make sure the less fortunate among us are able to have a bountiful holiday meal. On Thursday, the Calvary Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. Ext., North Lima, will be serving a free dinner at 11 a.m., 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
A community Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Salem Memorial Building. This meal is open to anyone in the area who has no other plans for the holiday. No reservations are required to dine in, but for home delivery or transportation call, 330-337-3728.
If you're alone this holiday, why not consider joining one of these community celebrations. And, if you're fortunate enough to be spending the day with family and friends and someone else is doing the cooking, consider helping out at one of these worthwhile endeavors either before or after your private celebration. The help will surely be welcomed and you'll be glad you lent a hand.
