COLUMBIANA - Laurance Malara was born in Paterson, N.J., on July 27, 1949. He and his wife Deborah were married on July 28, 1978 and spent 34 loving years together raising four children and many wonderful dogs.
Larry was a proud disabled veteran of the United States Air Force.
He grew up in Utica, N.Y. where he attended Whitesboro schools, Mohawk Community College and was a graduate of Riverside School of Aeronautics. After working for United Technologies out of Connecticut he moved his family to Columbiana, Ohio, where he worked for U.S. Airways at the Pittsburgh Airport. In Columbiana, Larry was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, a member of American Legion, he spent 10 years volunteering hundreds of hours with his daughter's 4-H group, as well as having an active roll in his children's various sports teams and other activities.
Larry and his family relocated to South Carolina in 2007 but he would always think of Columbiana as his home.
Larry had recently retired from 24 years at U.S. Airways this past October and was able to spend several weeks with his family, to which he lovingly devoted his entire life. Larry was a dedicated and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, neighbor and friend. He was a kind man and will be sorely missed.
