HANOVERTON - Garvin Pitts, age 93, formerly of Hanoverton, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Woodlawn Compassionate Care in Canton.
Garvin was born April 23, 1919 in Dock, Kentucky to the late Oscar and Lula (Branham) Pitts. He lived in the Hanoverton area for the last 33 years and recently moved to Carroll County.
He retired from the Sterling Boat Company. He was a member of the Hanoverton Christian Church. Garvin enjoyed gardening and yard work.
He is survived by his loving wife Mabel (Justice) Pitts, whom he married August 31, 1937 of the residence. His children are daughter, Geneva Donaldson of Canton; three sons, Richard (Marjorie) Pitts of Salem; Larry (Janet) Pitts of Carrollton and Douglas (Mary) Pitts of Mechanicstown; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Graham Pitts of Hanoverton.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Jenetta Pitts; and two sons, Bill and Robert Pitts; a son-in-law, Robert Donaldson; and three brothers.
Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Maple Cotton Funeral Home in Kensington with Pastor Dave Napier officiating.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 30, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Maple Cotton Funeral home.
