Miriam Mae Shearer, 96, of Salem, died at 11:28 AM Saturday at the Courtyard at Lexington.
She was born April 11, 1916 in Massillon, Oh.; a daughter of the late James C. and Myrtle (Mathie) Miller. She lived in the Salem area most of her life, was married to Howard E. Shearer, Jr. November 30, 1935 and who preceded her in death February 1, 1998. She was a house-wife, a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Ladies Circle group. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at the Salem Masonic Temple.
She is survived by a daughter Suzanne (Edwin R.) Smith of Salem; two sons Howard E. (Frances [Keylor]) Shearer, III, of Delaware, Oh.; and James E.(Ann-companion) Shearer, of Salem. She is also survived by a brother Robert (Phyllis) Miller of Richmond, Va.; also two additional sisters-in-law; Bette Miller and Shirley Miller; nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by four sisters; Eileen Setterlin, Nellie Miller, Betty Huff, and Lillian Seifert; and by five brothers; James, Andrew, Denton, Carson, and William. She was also preceded in death by one grandchild Todd Shearer and a great-grandchild Joseph David Blackburn.
Services will be Saturday at 11 AM at the Emanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Alan Smearsoll officiating, a time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until service time at the church. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery in Salem.
