HANOVERTON - A thief who cut his way into the One Stop in Hanoverton overnight is being sought by the Columbiana County Sheriff Department.
Tiffany Altman, a manager at the Hanoverton One Stop, state Route 9, reported at 6:14 a.m. Wednesday someone broke into the rear storage room by cutting a hole in the metal siding. The thief then pushed in some paneling to gain entrance into the room.
Next the thief cut through a wall inside the building between two rooms to avoid triggering an alarm system on the door.
A hole was cut into the top of a floor safe in the office and the contents removed. Surveillance video showed a man with a hoodie and ski mask on inside the second room.
About $1,000 is believed to have been taken from the safe.
