Frank Snodgrass

COLUMBIANA - It is with deep sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Frank E. Snodgrass, at Sandusky Veterans Home Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at 9:20 a.m. Frank has been a resident at Sandusky Veterans Home since September 2008. He was 96 years young.

Loving husband of Donna and loving father of Kassie (Bob) Rosse, Betty (Bob) Belding, Donna (Ted) Rupert, Frank (Juliet Jaeger) Pancake, Gayle Weikart, Claudia (Walt) Simpson, Connie (John) Benitou, Cathy (George) Nyktas, Cheryl Manley, Craig (Toni Sepeda) Manley, Chris (Mike) Rouse, Curt (Wendy) Manley and Candie (Greg) Dickinson. Frank is survived by 31 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wives, Betty Touissant Snodgrass and Mary Katherine Pancake Snodgrass and a sister, Betty Oliver and two brothers, George and Charles Snodgrass

After serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he worked as a salesman for Jewel Tea Co. for 29 years. He later owned a hardware store in Follansbee, W.Va., then worked at DIY in Boardman, finally retiring for the last time in 1998 at 82 years old.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Columbiana, Benjamin Firestone Post No. 290 American Legion (receiving the lifetime award in 2005), former Columbiana Chapter No. 428 Order of Eastern Stars, Lions Club and the Allen Lodge No. 276 F and AM where he was a 32nd degree Mason. Always active and competitive, Frank enjoyed playing cards, darts, checkers, and golfing into his mid 90s. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Frank at Warrick-Kummer-Rettig Funeral Home, Columbiana on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral service will be held Monday at 12 noon with Pastor Paul Dyke, Frank's grandson, and Rev. Paula Archdeacon officiating. Interment will follow in Columbiana Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the honor guard of Benjamin Firestone Post No. 290 American Legion.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to donate in memory of Frank are asked to consider Benjamin Firestone Post No. 290 or First United Methodist Church of Columbiana.
