Norman Crawford

Columbiana - Norman E. Crawford, 89, of Alisha Lane, formerly of Middle Beaver Rd., Lisbon, passed away at 6:11pm, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Salem Community Hospital following a two week illness.

Mr. Crawford was born September 4, 1923 in Elkton, Ohio, a son of the late Harry B. and Lydia M. (Dicken) Crawford, and had lived his entire life in the area.

A 1941 graduate of Lisbon David Anderson High School, Norman worked as a truck driver for Food Haul, retiring in 1981. He also owned and operated Crawford's Repair Shop, servicing and selling lawn mowers and chainsaws in Elkton for 25 years.

A devoted Christian, Norman was a faithful member of the Elkton United Methodist Church; the Lisbon Prayer and Share group; the Lisbon Morning Prayer group; and the Lisbon Bible Study group.

Mr. Crawford was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Teamsters Union #377 and the Mahoning Valley Lawnmower repair association.

Norman also served our country during WWII as a member of the U.S. Army.

He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Foy) Crawford, whom he married June 21, 1948; daughters, Barbara J. Stover of Lisbon and Pamela (Sam) Gorby of Negley; son, Raymond E. (Deborah) Crawford of Oxford, Alabama; sister-in-law, Dorothy Crawford of Salem; grandchildren, Tracey Brandewie, Allison Shroades, Shawn (Holly) Crawford, Jamison Crawford, Krista Diddle, Marcus (Janet) Diddle, Amy (David) Crouse, and Eric (Dusty) Gorby; and great grandchildren, Michelle, Kathryn and Zachary Brandewie, Arielle Shroades, Makenah and Jonathan Crawford, Kaitlyn Gorby, Kaylee Crouse, and Maxwell Russell.

Mr. Crawford was preceded also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Boring; and brothers, Noah, Ray A., Marvin, and Melvin Crawford.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11am, Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home with Pastor Kathy Barton of the Elkton United Methodist Church officiating. Private burial will follow at the Kemble Cemetery in Elkton.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm to 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
