EAST LIVERPOOL - Mary Elizabeth Cooper, of East Liverpool, died Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at Orchards at Foxcrest where she resided. She was 93.

Born in East Liverpool, Nov. 12, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Ira A. and Mattie A. Shaw Burbick.

A member of East Liverpool High School Class of 1937, she was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in East Liverpool. She was a past member of East Liverpool Hospital Women's Auxiliary, a member of the Coterie Club, the Travelers Club, East Liverpool High School Alumni Association and its Olde Guard.

Her husband, attorney Joseph W. C. Cooper, died Jan. 1, 1995. The couple married Nov. 22, 1940. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Roger Cooper, as well as two brothers, Donald L. Burbick and Robert A. Burbick.

She is survived by her son, Stephen W. Cooper, and his wife Joan, of East Liverpool, along with five grandchildren, Dee Merrill, and her husband George, of North Canton, Alson Hamilton, and her husband David, of East Liverpool, Drew Cooper, and his wife Tamar, of Annapolis, Md., Michael Cooper, and his wife Gena, of Katy, Texas, and Michelle Cooper Jordan, and her husband Howard, of Daphne, Ala. There are 12 great-grandchildren: Cooper, Grant and Grace Merrill, Cole and Kate Hamilton, Sydney and Garrett Cooper, Alex and Palmer Jordan, and Joseph, Audrey and Hannah Cooper.

In addition, a brother survives, James W. Burbick, and his wife Pat, of Tallmadge, Ohio, and a daughter-in-law, Mina Cooper of Daphne, Ala.

Friends may visit Friday afternoon and evening at Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Rev. Dale Sutton will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.

Following the service, family and friends will gather at Dawson Family Center for fellowship.

Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in care of First United Methodist Memorial Fund, 200 West Fifth Street, East Liverpool, Ohio 43920.
