While in Marietta, he served on various community organizations including the Bi-Centennial celebration committee.

After he retired in 1993, Jim and Eileen spent their life traveling the US and Canada in a motorhome. They enjoyed visiting friends and family and working as a volunteer or part time at various jobs, including John Jarvie Historical Ranch, Badlands National Park, Walt Disney World/Epcot Center/Magic Kingdom, Dworshak Dam Visitors Center and See's Candy.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Eileen George Cusick from East Liverpool, Ohio, along with his children and their families, Christine (45) and Pete Moore, Colleen (44), Andy and (granddaughter) Loren (4) Williams, Darrick (42) Cusick and Craig (34) and Sandi Cusick.
