Morning Journal News

EAST LIVERPOOL - Kenneth F. Ladouceur, Jr., who bravely fought a year-long battle with cancer, passed away at his home on Maple Drive in East Liverpool at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, June 8, 2013.

Ken, as he was known to his many friends, was surrounded at the time of his death by his loving wife and best friend, Alicia, along with their daughter, son-in-law and extended family.

He was born in Buffalo, NY on May 21, 1956, a son of the late Dorothy Jean Morath and Kenneth F. Ladouceur, Sr. Ken and his family moved to East Liverpool when he was a young boy, and he remained in this area ever since.

He was a 1975 graduate of Beaver Local High School, and attended Kent State University for two years before becoming a maintenance mechanic at the former Bruce Mansfield Plant (later First Energy), where he was a loyal employee for over 36 years.

A member of Holy Trinity Parish, Ken had been involved with the Knights of Columbus at one time. He had many loves: riding his motorcycle with Alicia, going fishing, rooting for the Steelers, coaching soccer through the years when his daughter, Rachael, played, and caring for his animals (especially "Ella", who remained by his side throughout his final days). But his greatest love was his family, who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his wife, the former Alicia Powell, whom he married on December 19, 1980, Ken leaves behind his cherished daughter, Rachael Midcap, and her husband, Ryan, of Lisbon.

A sister, Michele Ladouceur-Dross and her husband, Jeff, of Cleveland Heights, survives, as well as his mother-in-law, Leona Alice (Powell) Chichester of East Liverpool, and his Aunt Joan Morath of Amherst, NY.

Always loyal to his extended family, Ken will also be missed by his sisters-in-law: Amy Powell and her husband Mike, and their children, Amber and Joey Powell, of Edmond, OK; Mary Jo Kosek and her husband, Kevin, and their sons, Shayne and Kameron Kosek of East Liverpool; and Patty Noel and her husband, Brian, of Moore, OK.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Kevin Ladouceur.

Friends may visit at the Dawson Funeral Home on Tuesday, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Services will be held at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, with Father Peter Haladej of Holy Trinity Parish as the celebrant.

Ken will be laid to rest at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
