Route 14 wreck

July 3, 2013
Morning Journal News

Two drivers were taken to Salem Community Hospital after a three-vehicle accident on state Route 14 near East Palestine shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday. An eastbound 2000 Ford Focus driven by Ryan Brown of East Palestine was stopped waiting to turn left onto Hadley Road Extension when it was struck from behind by a Chevy Trailblazer driven by Julie Ford of Beaver Falls, Pa. The impact forced Brown's vehicle left of center into oncoming traffic where it collided head-on with a Buick Park Avenue driven by Tim Coakley of East Palestine. Coakley's car went off the north side of the road and down an embankment, coming to rest in a cornfield. Ford's Chevy went off the south side of the road and down an embankment, coming to rest near a small creek in a field. The East Palestine Fire/EMS transported Brown and Coakley to the hospital. State Trooper Eric Carroll is investigating the crash and was assisted at the scene by patrol Sgt. Craig Monte.
