On Feb. 7, 1984, the United School Board put a 3-mill permanent improvement levy on the ballot for the tax years 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988. This is the 30th year. It has been generating $245,000 each year. By the end of 2013 that should be $7.35 million they took in.
United Local School investments inventory in December 2012 was $6.375 million and the unencumbered general fund operating balance was $3.165 million. That is a lot of money. The understanding I have of the following are:
$65,000 to build new offices for Steve Viscounte and Kathy Davies and the secretary.
$80,000 new football bleachers for the visitors side.
$60,000 for new security cameras with sound recording.
No raises for the following: teachers, cafeteria workers, bus drivers and other inside and outside workers.
There will be no insurance for new hired bus drivers. But, the administration and board members got a raise plus health insurance if they want it.
I also found out they are installing 35 new windows in the junior high (grades 7-8) classrooms. Why have they waited this long to do all of them with the money they have?
I also got a report that the majority of the bus transportation budget is spent on sporting and special events rather than actually getting the students to and from school.
How much money will United make from the Chesapeake Plant in Hanover Township?
