SALINEVILLE - The turf, bleachers, and track at Southern Local's revamped stadium complex are nearly complete.
Superintendent John Wilson updated school board members and the public at a meeting of the board Tuesday night, saying he had received word from the Motz Group, the company installing the field's synthetic turf, that the playing surface was "99 percent done."
The superintendent said he expects the turf to be ready for use by the football team within the "next few days."

According to Wilson, the stadium's bleachers are nearing completion as well. New bleachers have been added to both ends of the home side to add to the seating capacity. On the visitor's side, drooping bleachers, which made viewing the game nearly impossible, have also been replaced.
The blacktop track has been sub-coated and will be ready for a top coating in the next two weeks. Wilson stated contractors are waiting on a chain link fence surrounding the track to be installed before applying the final coating to the track.
A new fieldhouse for the sports complex is not yet complete, according to Wilson, who says the district has been delayed due to approval in the building permit process. The fieldhouse will be a simple metal pole building structure and Wilson believes once work begins, which could come about as early as this week, it will not take long to be completed.
An additional 100 parking spots are planned, added between the locker rooms and the future location of the fieldhouse. Wilson notes that this too is a straight-forward project and he expects it to be complete in the coming weeks. Pennsylvania-based construction company A.R. Oliastro is handling both the parking lot and the blacktop track.
"The project is almost complete, we're at the finish line and we should be wrapping things up within the next few weeks." said Wilson.
