William Grimm

Leetonia, OH-William W. Grimm, Sr., 93, of Butcher Road, Leetonia, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center, Columbiana.

Mr. Grimm was born September 12, 1920 in Mason County, WV, a son of the late George A. and Virginia Roush Grimm and had lived in this area most of his life. He served in the US Army during WWII in Central Europe and the Rhineland and received the Silver Star Medal.

Bill had been employed as a machinist at the former NRM of Columbiana retiring in 1986. Prior to that he had worked at the former L. W. Nash Company, East Palestine. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Columbiana and was a life member of the York Drexler Post #5532 VFW.

He was preceded in death on December 23, 2010 by his wife, the former Grace Pelley whom he married August 14, 1948

He is survived by a daughter, Sharon Grimm of Leetonia; a son, William W. (Bonnie) Grimm, Jr. of Leetonia; a sister, Leoda Folger of Brunswick, OH; two brothers, Homer Grimm, Jonesboro, IL and George L. Grimm of Letart, WV; four granddaughters, Virginia (Michael) Phillips, Ericka (Jeremy) Campf, Katherine (Steve) Ronshausen and Lillian (Joseph) Pahanish; and five great grandchildren, Trey Phillips, Emma Phillips, William Pahanish, Casey Ronshausen and Marshall Campf.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Becky Talkington and a brother, Thomas Grimm.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the Church of the Nazarene, Columbiana with the Reverend Jan Winnale officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Benjamin Firestone Post of the American Legion. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park, East Liverpool. Friends may call from 3-6 p.m. Saturday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia and one hour prior to the service Sunday at the church.
