EAST LIVERPOOL Dorothea E. "Dorothy" Nusser, 92, of East Liverpool, departed for Heaven, Wednesday, October 9, 2013. The Lord blessed Dorothy with a sweet homecoming as she was surrounded by her family and friends at the Calcutta Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness.

Born in City Point, Virginia, July 30, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Julia Prosser Pickens. A lifetime area resident, she graduated from the East Liverpool City Hospital School of Nursing in 1942 and was a registered nurse at the hospital until her retirement in 1983 after 36 years of service where she was the night supervisor for many years.

She was a member of Boyce United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women's Society and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class. A volunteer at the American Red Cross, she also served on the board of the Ceramic Senior Citizens. Along with her husband, she made eleven missionary trips to Haiti.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 69 years, Rev. Theodore R. "Ted" Nusser. The couple married October 28, 1944.

There are two children, a son Terry R. Nusser, and his wife Rebecca, of Flemington, New Jersey, and a daughter Susan E. Richman, and her husband John, of Calcutta. She will also be sadly missed by her six grandchildren: Michael Nusser, and his wife Shannon, Melissa Nusser Lingard, and her husband Matt, Stephen Richman, Carrie Nusser-Wik, and her husband Christopher, Sarah Richman and Matthew Russell, and his wife Becky, as well as eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Cailyn, Solomon, Wade, Theodore, Aubrey, Julianna and Emiel.

In addition, she leaves many precious nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is now living in Heaven with her Savior, as well as her parents, a sister, Doris Matthews, and a brother, William Pickens.

Friends may visit Friday at the Dawson Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. Stephen Richman, grandson, will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Columbiana County Memorial Park.
