Imogene Smith

Imogene L. Smith, age 88, a 25 year resident of Wonderview in Bloomsburg, died on Saturday morning, October 12, 2013 at her Main Township home. Imogene was also resident of her home in East Liverpool, Ohio prior to moving to the Bloomsburg area.

Imogene was born on Wednesday, February 25, 1925 in Huntington, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Walter and Ora (Isaacs) Browning. Imogene completed her high school education in 1942 after graduating from the Huntington East High School. She also furthered her education by attending the local Business School in the Huntington area. In 1946, Imogene married her loving husband John R. Smith. Imogene dedicated her time to caring for her husband, daughter and their family home in Ohio. When her time allowed, Imogene loved spending her time outside on the local golf courses. Many times a year, she would golf on her favorite courses at the Berwick Country Club and the Rolling Pines Golf Course.

In addition to her parents, Imogene was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, the late John R. Smith who passed in 1988 in Ohio. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lyndy Browning and also by a sister, Patricia Stewart.

Survivors include her only daughter: Cynthia A. Smith of Bloomsburg; two sons: John D. Smith and wife, Debbie, of Auburndale, FL; and Gregory Smith and wife, Becky, of Oakridge, TN; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and four sisters: Rosemary Browning, Eloise Cooksey, Maxine Folrod, and Phyllis Davis all of Huntington.

Imogene will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Columbiana County Memorial Park in East Liverpool, Ohio. There will be no local funeral services at this time. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg is honored to be assisting the Smith family.
