Roger Kent Messer, 66, of Dunedin, FL, died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at Bay Pines VA Healthcare System.

Born in Canton, OH, he retired as a carpenter after 45 years.

Mr. Messer was owner R & G Handyman Services and worked for the Pasco County School Board. He also worked as a truck driver and at Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Course in Clearwater, FL.

He was an Army veteran of Vietnam.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Dunedin.

Roger was an avid golfer and Ohio State Buckeye football fan. He enjoyed driving his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and camper.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Ginger; son, Keith "KC" Charles Messer; three stepdaughters, Jennifer Goldsmith, Joanna Pike, and Carey Menough; a brother, Larry; 8 grandchildren; a niece, two nephews, and many aunts, uncles and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 AM on Sat., Dec. 14 at First UMC of Dunedin, 421 Main Street, 34698.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Bay Pines VAHCS, c/o Hospice Care Unit, PO Box 5005, Bay Pines, FL 33744. Make check payable to Bay Pines VAHCS-GPF 1086.

Services in Ohio will be at a later date.
