SALEM - Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of state Routes 45 and 165 in Green Township.
The Journal's news partner, WKBN Channel 27, quoted a highway patrol trooper as saying an eastbound pickup truck on Route 165 did not stop for the stop sign and collided with a Dodge Neon traveling on Route 45 at about 7:30 a.m.
The driver of the Neon was flown to St. Elizabeth's in Youngstown, WKBN said. The other driver was taken by ambulance.
WKBN, which had a crew on the scene, spoke with firefighters, who noted the intersection has had a number of fatal crashes throughout the years. Wednesday's was the fourth or fifth time this year they have responded to a wreck at the site.
The state added flashing lights to the intersection a few years ago but, WKBN reported, has no plans to upgrade the intersection with a stop light.
