Salineville native recognized for 45 years of service
On Nov. 14, Salineville native and 1975 Southern Local graduate Tom Allmon was recognized during a luncheon at Fort Stewart, Georgia, with a length of service pin and certificate for 45 years of federal service with the U.S. Department of Defense.
Allmon entered the United States Military Academy at West Point in July 1975. After receiving his commission as a 2nd Lieutenant Army Armor Officer in 1979, he served a variety of military assignments across the United States as well as Germany, Egypt, Belgium, Greece and Iraq. Allmon retired from the Army as a Colonel in 2009.
After his military retirement he continued federal service with the U.S. Department of the Army as the Director for Human Resources at Fort Stewart/Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, home of the Army’s 3rd Infantry Division. His duties entail support for over 25,000 soldiers through the management of the Military Personnel in/out processing, Transition Assistance Program Deployment and Reintegration programs.
He and his wife, Sheree, were married in 1983 and live in Richmond Hill, Georgia. They have two daughters (Allison and Katlyn), a son (Thomas) and three grandchildren (Finley, Maggie and Callen). His parents, Tom and Janice Allmon, reside at Guilford Lake and his sister, Lori Hogue and her husband Mark, reside in Medina. Allmon will retire from federal service in December 2024.
