The Salem Historical Society announces museum’s summer hours

SALEM — The Salem Historical Society museum will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. the first and third Sundays of the month from May through October. The opening day is May 5. Use the Pearce House entrance at 208 S. Broadway across from city hall. The last tour begins at 3:30 p.m.

Tours are available in the Pearce and Schell buildings, Freedom Hall and the Dale Shaffer Research Library’s industrial display. Docents will accompany visitors to explain displays and answer questions. The gift shop will be open from 1 to 3:30 p.m.

Tours are also available by appointment on other days. Call 330-337-8514 three days in advance for an appointment. Efforts will be made to accommodate visitors who cannot call three days ahead.

Adult admission is $6, children between 5 and 18 are $3, and children under 5 are free.

The society’s office on the upper level of the Dale Shaffer Research Library is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The gift shop on the lower level of the Shaffer Library is generally open during the same office hours. Call 330-337-8514 with questions or to request a tour.
