Enrollment up slightly at Robert Bycroft

LISBON — Enrollment at the Robert Bycroft School is slightly up this year, with six more students than last year.

The enrollment was mentioned during the most recent meeting of the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities. This year’s total enrollment is 48 students for the Robert Bycroft School in Lisbon.

The board said the start of the new school year on Aug. 22 went smoothly, with all children accounted for and all school buses arrived on time.

The board also announced that the annual strategic plan has begun and will be ready for board approval in December.

Agenda items approved during the meeting were renewing membership in the Ohio Association of County Boards at a cost of $28,960, which is a 3 percent increase over last year, and renewing accounting software with Primary Solutions for a cost of $3,900.

District Superintendent William Devon said the company has moved to a new web-based platform called “Finex” for the next generation of Infallible.

The board also approved the replacement and removal of two additional entrance doors and the installation of five Mel Retro Kits and an LCN 6440 Automatic closer at the Robert Bycroft School at a cost of $24,490 from Tri State Glass Company.

Other items approved were:

— Rescinding board policy 1000 regarding Family Supports and passing a new board policy for Family Supports.

— A new Student Cell Phone policy in accordance with Ohio Revised Code.

— Individual Option Waivers for two people as approved by the Ethics Committee.

— A Level 1 Waiver for five people as approved by the Ethics Committee.

The Halloween Dance is scheduled for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Robert Bycroft School.

The next board meeting was set for 4 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Robert Bycroft School conference room.
