Winona Road closure
Winona Road between Depot and King roads in Butler Township will be closed during daytime hours of 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for six days beginning Wednesday through Nov. 13 for sheet piling installation. The road will be open to traffic during the evening and weekend.
CCRTA to meet Nov. 21
The November meeting of the Columbiana County Retired Teachers’ Association will be held on the third Thursday of this month, Nov. 21, not Nov. 14 as previously published. The meeting will be held at noon at the Lisbon First United Methodist Church. Contact Rosemary Bruehler at 330-385-9369 for a reservation.
SPL Board of Trustees
The Salem Public Library Board of Trustees will meet in a special session to consider the release of a renovation project for public bidding and related budgetary adjustments at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Quaker Room of the library.
Student exchange reps
ASSE International is now hiring student exchange area representatives. As an ASSE area representative, individuals will be the point person for students placed in their area during a year abroad. Counselor, advocate and friend are just some of the roles of the ASSE are representative. In addition, they will help teenagers in their own community become ASSE exchange students abroad. Trained ASSE area representatives will receive on-going support from the ASSE area coordinator and regional director. The area representative is a part-time, stipend-paid position and many representatives work other full-time jobs. Compensation is $750 to $1,000 per student placed, additional bonuses and incentives available. If interested, complete the online area rep application at www.asse.com.
Hats, gloves, socks needed
Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is hosting a collection to gather winter hats, gloves and socks, as part of The Brightside Project’s Collection Drive. SRMC will have a community drop-off box inside the front doors of the main lobby on the ground floor and at the parking garage entrance. Donated items can be dropped off Nov. 11 to 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. All donated items will be distributed to children 16 and under in Columbiana County. Butch Duke Memorial
Moose Lodge 122, East Liverpool, will host the Butch Duke Memorial from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Nov. 9, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing and DJ John and Bonnie from 7 to 11 p.m. Open to the public. Memorial proceeds benefit local children, schools, events, and causes, all in memory of Butch Duke.
