Calcutta crash

Calcutta fire and ambulance along with the St. Clair Township Police Department responded to a call for a truck that crashed into a children’s dentist office at Dentistry for Children located at 15481 St. Clair Ave., Calcutta, at 2:31 p.m. Tuesday. Calcutta Volunteer Fire and Ambulance evacuated the south side of the building due to collapse. There were no injuries. According to Lt. Randy Schneider, Calcutta VFD, there was a patient who was scheduled to be seen at the office at the time of the crash, but the appointment had been canceled earlier in the day. Schneider noted that had the patient been at the appointment they probably would have been seriously injured. Calcutta Towing was on scene and Diloretto Construction secured and stabilized the building. Cause of the crash is not known at this time. According to Schneider, the unidentified driver said they lost their brakes. It is unknown at this time if there were any citations issued. (Photos submitted by Calcutta VFD)
