Sheriff’s Office
— Deputies were dispatched at 9:28 p.m. Friday to a disturbance on U.S. Route 30, West Township, where a resident asked three others to get off of his property. They left.
— A man on Hazel Run Road, Washington Township, reported at 8:10 p.m. Friday that there was a loud vehicle outside his garage and some type of saw or drill sound could be heard, with someone possibly attempting to break into his garage. A deputy checked around the garage and the area but didn’t find anyone. The man said it appeared someone was using a drill on a man door going into the garage due to drill marks on the lock.
— A woman from Steubenville requested a report on file at 7:34 p.m. Friday that she was having custody issues with her son’s father, who resides in Salineville. She was advised to contact an attorney.
— Deputies were dispatched to Depot Road, Hanover Township for a juvenile-related report at 7:40 p.m. Thursday.
— At 3:10 a.m. Nov. 27, deputies received a call from a Center Township resident who reported seeing a suspicious person around their property. Deputies responded and located a woman near the area. After further investigation, it was discovered she had a warrant out of the Columbiana County’s Sheriff’s Office for assault, and was arrested. Kacandra Seddon, 43, North 16th Street, Sebring, was charged with assault for an alleged incident at Family Dollar in Salem on Aug. 16.
Highway Patrol
— Kristina Caporale, of Maple Grove Lane in New Waterford, was cited at 4:55 p.m. Nov. 29 in Beaver Township for left of center. Caporale was southbound on state Route 7, when she crossed the center line and was struck by Andrew Muck, of Boardman. Muck was involved in a second crash almost immediately after, as Brian Zuercher, of Grove City, Ohio, swerved to the right to avoid Muck, who had been out of his disabled vehicle directing traffic as a result of the initial incident when Zuercher struck the unoccupied Muck vehicle, forcing it off the east side of the road.
–Zachary Nastart, of Hanna Drive in Hanoverton, was cited at 10:15 p.m. Dec. 4 in West Township for reasonable control, after his eastbound vehicle traveled off the right side of state Route 172, struck a mailbox and overturned on an embankment.
–Bruce Whetzel, of Cortland, was cited at 5:06 p.m. Dec. 4 in Unity Township for failure to yield the right of way as he turned left at the intersection of state Routes 165 and 14, after striking Amy Sienerth, of state Route 14 in East Palestine.
–Thomas Jones, of Fife Coal Road in Wellsville, was cited at 11:12 p.m. Nov. 30 in Liverpool Township for reasonable control, after driving off the right side of Dresden Avenue while traveling southbound, striking a stop sign and guardrail before traveling over a concrete wall into a creek.
–Eric Grunenwald, of Boardman, was cited at 9:24 p.m. Nov. 30 in Elkrun Township for reasonable control, after he went off the right side of state Route 11 while southbound and overturned into an embankment.
–William Gibson, of Lisbon Street in Leetonia, was cited at 2:51 p.m. Dec. 1 in Washingtonville for failure to yield the right of way, after his vehicle was struck while turning left on County Road by Thomas McCoy, of Columbia Street in Leetonia.
–No citation was issued in the following crashes in the afternoon hours of Nov. 29 due to the road conditions: 5:25 p.m. Georgetown Road involving Michael Mathes of Waynesboro, Pa.; 5:35 p.m. state Route 9 involving Adam Dopp of Salem; and 7:07 p.m. state Route 14 involving Carol Lorenz, of Pittsburgh, and Erin McAndrew, of Homestead Drive in Columbiana; and 9:05 p.m. state Route 14 involving Christopher Spears of Warren.
Leetonia
–Village police were contacted at 11:26 a.m. Dec. 4 to provide backup to Washingtonville police for the investigation of a male subject beating on the apartment door on Chris Avenue and trying to see a female subject inside. Upon arrival, the subject had left in a silver Silverado in an unknown direction.
— A welfare check was performed at 11:22 a.m. Dec. 9 at a camper in the Cherry Valley Campground as a female subject reported concern as she had been able to reach the occupant for two weeks. Upon arrival, there was no one there or inside the camper.
–An officer was dispatched at 2:54 p.m. Nov. 30 to the 600 block of Columbia Street to investigate a suicidal male. He was transported to the hospital by his wife.
Salem
— Officers responded to the 2800 block of East State Street at 10:06 a.m. Tuesday for a reported hit and skip. The owner of the vehicle advised that her vehicle had been struck in the parking lot of a business. Officers documented the damage done and provided the owner with a report number. Officers were able to watch video of the parking lot and could see the owner who advised that she had only stopped at one other location in the city. Officers advised they would attempt to speak to the employees of that business and try to view video footage from that location as well.
