Vallandingham joins SRMC staff

SALEM – Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) welcomes Board Certified Family Medicine/Sports Medicine physician Zachary D. Vallandingham, D.O., to its medical staff.

Services Provided

As a family medicine physician with a subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine, Vallandingham offers a full range of primary care services to patients of all ages, including sick visits, chronic disease management and wellness care. In addition, because of his fellowship training in Sports Medicine, he can provide non-surgical care for a variety of musculoskeletal and orthopedic issues. Conditions he can treat range from sprains, strains, non-operative fractures, nerve and overuse injuries, tendinitis/bursitis and other various joint and spine related issues.

“My combined family medicine and sports medicine training gives me the privilege of being part of my patients’ health journey throughout all stages of their life,” Vallandingham said. “This includes helping patients recover when they experience a variety of injuries, ranging from people falling while walking their dogs or slipping on the stairs, to construction workers, pickleball players or school athletes. Additionally, as a family medicine physician, I have the added benefit of continuing to provide primary care services to address their daily health concerns.”

Education and Training

Vallandingham attended Wright State University, where he earned a Bachelor and Master of Science. He went on to receive his Medical Degree from the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, followed by a Family Medicine Residency at Summa Akron City Hospital/NEOMED. Vallandingham continued to advance his medical training with a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Summa Orthopedics and Sports Medicine.
