Crestview renewed as a Purple Star School for the Class of 2025

COLUMBIANA — The Crestview School District’s support of military families and students has earned recognition from the state.

The district announced in a press release that the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce recently renewed Crestview High School’s designation as a Purple Star School for the Class of 2025.

“This prestigious recognition is awarded to schools that demonstrate a steadfast commitment to supporting students and families connected to our nation’s military,” the release stated.

To receive the Purple Star designation, schools must meet rigorous criteria established by the Ohio Purple Star Advisory Board.

“Crestview High School has once again risen to the occasion, earning this honor through its ongoing dedication to the academic success and well-being of military-connected youth,” the release stated.

“We are incredibly proud to be recognized as a Purple Star School,” high school Principal Caleb Crowl said. “Our staff and community work hard to ensure that military families feel welcomed, supported, and empowered throughout their time with us.”

The Purple Star designation is valid for three years, and Crestview High School will be eligible to apply for renewal in the fall of 2027 to join the Class of 2028, the district said.

In the meantime, the school will continue to

celebrate this honor with banners, certificates, and digital displays of the Purple Star logo throughout

the campus and online platforms.

According to the release, Ohio’s military-connected students face unique challenges, particularly during school transitions, and the Purple Star designation reflects Crestview’s unwavering commitment to ensuring those students have the support they need to thrive both academically and personally.

“We applaud your school’s dedication to Ohio’s military families,” the Department of Education and Workforce noted in its announcement. “Thank you for your continuous support of those who serve.”
