Peggy Ruth Rose

“Together Again”

1933-2024

SALINEVILLE — The Lord called home a good and faithful servant when Peggy R. Dobson Rose passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at the age of 91 after being in failing health for several years.

Born Feb. 2, 1933, in Stratton, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late James and Beatrice Dunlap Dobson. She was a 1950 graduate of the former Jefferson Union High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean W. Rose, on Oct. 4, 1992. She was also preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters: Bill, Con, John and Kenny Dobson, Linda Dobson and Nadine Leatherberry.

A member of the Highlandtown Church (formerly the Highlandtown United Methodist Church), she worked tirelessly at church events and held many offices. She also volunteered countless hours working in the concession stand at the Highlandtown Firemen’s festivals and was an honorary member of the fire department. She loved to cook and bake and was especially known for her baked beans and coconut cream pie. She was always ready to lend a hand or a sympathetic ear or share a laugh.

Left to cherish her memory are a son, David Rose of Highlandtown; two daughters, Kendra Rose of the home, and Brenda (Tim) Raffa of Highlandtown; as well as many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind countless friends, including two special friends, Jean Culp and Nancy Weekley.

Her most cherished role in life was that of “granny” to granddaughters Emily Rose Raffa (Brad Brown) and Ashley Robin Raffa Hissam (Jeff Hissam), and to great-grandson Jefferey Allen Hissam II and great-granddaughter Amyah Kay Hissam.

She was also “granny” to her niece Carol Minor’s grandchildren, Devyn, Brayden, Hannah, Noah, Grant, Jase, Jett, and Mila. Peggy also looked forward to her nursing home visits from her “granddog” Brody.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Roberts Funeral Home with former Pastors Jim and Jennifer Ray officiating.

Burial will follow in Highlandtown Cemetery.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday at the Roberts Funeral Home, 631 Main St. in Wellsville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may take the form of donations to the Highlandtown Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Calcutta Health Care Center where Peggy resided.
