Leonard A. Wargo

1939-2024

Leonard A. Wargo, 85, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024 in care of Hospice in Newark, California. For 50 years he was a resident of Union City. He was born in Summitville, Ohio on April 5, 1939 and graduated Salineville High School in 1957.

Proceeded in death by parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Spevak) Wargo, spouse Maria (Lopez) Wargo, siblings: Joseph Wargo, David Wargo, John Wargo, James “Jimmy” Wargo, Delores Welch (all from Salineville, Ohio), Margaret Sanders and Gabriel Wargo of Ravanna, Ohio.

He is survived by son Kenneth Wargo, granddaughters Chelsie Borger and Kathryn Baker, and great-grandson Andrew, siblings Jacob Wargo, Betty Alexander, and Maryann Pavelchak.

From 1958-1962 he was active duty in the US Air Force. He joined United Air Lines as an aircraft mechanic in San Francisco retiring 53 years later. He also was a US Air Force Reservist retiring in 1999 after 25 years in service.
