WEST POINT — Victor John “VJ” Chuck, Jr, 56, passed away suddenly at his home on Thursday, November 28, 2024 after battling a long illness.
Victor was born August 25, 1968 in Salem, Ohio, a son of the late Victor John Chuck, Sr. and Patsy Ruth (Keylor) Chuck.
A graduate of Beaver Local High School and the Columbiana County JVS, he lived most of his life in West Point.
Victor most recently retired due to health reasons from the East Fairfield Stone Company as an equipment operator.
Before this he followed in his father’s footsteps and a longstanding family tradition, Victor began his career at the age of 20 as an underground coalminer for Mountain Spring Coal Company, working his way up to foreman, where he made many lifelong friends in the process. He continued his coal mining career with Rosebud Mining Company, East Fairfield Coal Company, and Alliance Coal Company.
Victor had many hobbies. He was an avid World War II enthusiast, owning memorabilia from that time period, including 2 WWII Jeeps that he proudly drove in holiday parades. He also loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, Corvettes, and was an avid pheasant hunter and trap shooter.
Left to cherish his memory and “Wuvee” him forever are his beloved eight children, whom he was so very proud of: Cassie (Ed II) DeVille, Allee, Billy, Alivia, Alanee, Reese, Rylee, and Owen.
Victor will also be dearly missed by his brother and sister-in-law, William “BG” and Kimberly Chuck as well as his nephews, Joshua (Kylee) Chuck and Zachary (Holly Ellis) Chuck; and grandchildren, E.J and Cate DeVille.
The family will receive family and friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2024 at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 7pm. Private burial will take place Friday morning at the Lisbon Cemetery.
